Saul has been electrified!

Following on from our hugely successful event with Dr Saul Griffith at Richmond Town Hall last year, his extensive electrification knowledge is back and enhanced in a new interactive tool from Rewiring Australia.

This tool is a much more sophisticated ‘helper’ than the simple cost savings tools that are widely available, providing an interactive chat capability, including the potential to upload documents - like installer quotes - for feedback. To get started, just enter your postcode and whether you are an owner, a renter or a rental owner, then complete your household profile in the page below…

…which will give you an immediate possible savings estimate, much like many of the tools available. But a lot more value comes from clicking ‘continue your plan’. There you will get more info on what can be done and priorities, with a chat window where you can clarify or ask further questions. At Electrify Yarra, we tested a few scenarios in the tool, asking questions in the chat interface about:

• Considerations for replacing a hydronic gas heating system - a common question we are asked. The responses were helpful and informative, ending with Electric Saul asking if we wanted the tool to prepare a detailed request for a quote from installers.

• Getting feedback on a quote for solar - you can see a small part of that ‘conversation’ in the image below as an example of the kins of response you can get (FYI, as the installer had shared their quote as a web link as many do, we just had to copy the contents, paste and save it into a (pdf) file to upload to Electric Saul):

The tool remembers quite lengthy ‘conversations’ and builds on each interaction - in the example above we could have gone back to explain that roof space was limited. These interactions can be saved and returned to by clicking the ‘sign up’ button.
